Overtime compensation is based on the Working Hours Act. First 2 overtime hours/day: +50%, subsequent: +100%. Check your collective agreement.

The overtime calculator shows how much pay accrues from overtime when an overtime premium is added to hours worked beyond normal working time. It helps you make sure your pay matches the overtime hours you have done.

How the calculator works and what it’s for

How overtime pay is calculated

Overtime pay is built from the hourly wage plus an overtime premium on the hours exceeding normal working time. The calculator multiplies overtime hours by the hourly rate and the premium percentage, giving you both the overtime bonus and the total pay.

For example, if you work a few overtime hours a week, the tool shows how much the premium increases your pay compared with a normal hour.

What you enter and get

You enter your hourly wage, the number of overtime hours, and the applicable premium. The result shows the overtime bonus separately as well as the total pay for the overtime.

This makes it clear which part of the pay comes from base hours and which from the premium.

Who it is for

The calculator is useful for hourly-paid employees who want to check their payslip, and for managers and entrepreneurs estimating the cost of overtime.

Good to know

Overtime premium rates and thresholds are set by working-hours legislation and the collective agreement, and they can differ between sectors. Check the rules for your field in your collective agreement. The result is an estimate based on the figures you provide.
