✨ Optimise holiday

The vacation days calculator shows how many holiday days your chosen leave actually uses under Finnish annual leave law. That way you get the same time off while spending fewer of your accrued days.

How the calculator works and what it’s for

How holiday days are used up

Under Finnish annual leave law, weekdays from Monday to Saturday count as holiday days, while Sundays and statutory public holidays do not. The timing of your leave therefore matters a lot: a break placed around public holidays uses fewer days than an ordinary week.

The calculator goes through your chosen period one day at a time and leaves out Sundays and public holidays. The result tells you how many holiday days the leave truly takes from your balance.

What you enter and what you get

You pick the start and end date of your leave. The calculator automatically accounts for public holidays and weekends, so you do not have to count them yourself.

In return you see the number of holiday days used. With this it is easy to plan how to stretch your accrued days into the longest possible break.

Who it is for

The calculator serves every employee who wants to plan leave wisely and know whether their balance is enough. It is especially handy when holiday days are limited and you want to use each one effectively.

It is also a useful tool for managers when assessing the impact of a team's leave requests.

Tips for planning leave

Place leave around public holidays so you get more continuous time off while using fewer days. Around festive seasons, for instance, a few holiday days can produce a long break.

Always check that the calculator uses the correct year, since public holidays shift in the calendar each year and affect the result.
