This hourly wage calculator turns a monthly salary into an hourly rate and back again in seconds. It is handy for comparing job offers, pricing freelance work and understanding what an hour of your time is actually worth.

How the calculator works and what it’s for

How the conversion works

A monthly salary becomes an hourly wage when you divide it by the number of working hours in the month. Those hours come from your weekly working time multiplied by the average number of weeks per month, so a full 37.5-hour week works out to roughly 162.5 hours a month.

To go the other way, the hourly rate is multiplied by the monthly hours to give an estimated fixed salary. The same logic adapts to part-time work once you set the weekly hours to match your own contract.

What you enter and what you get

You enter either a monthly salary or an hourly rate, plus your weekly working time. The calculator shows the equivalent figure in the other unit.

The result is a gross amount, meaning pay before withholding tax and other deductions. Taxes and contributions reduce your take-home pay, so the net figure is lower.

Who benefits from it

Converting to an hourly rate is useful for freelancers, light entrepreneurs and shift workers weighing a fair hourly price. Salaried employees also gain by lining up offers from different employers side by side.

Comparison gets much easier once every pay model is expressed in the same unit and you can see which offer is genuinely the best deal.
