This hangover calculator estimates how strong and how long your hangover is likely to be based on the drinks you had, your weight, how much you slept and how much water you drank in the evening. It also gives practical tips for a faster recovery.

How the calculator works and what it’s for

How the estimate works

The tool combines four factors: more drinks and a lower body weight push the hangover score higher, while a short night's sleep also raises it and plenty of water in the evening lowers it.

You get a hangover score from 0 to 100, an estimated duration in hours and a recommendation for how much water to drink right now.

What you enter and what you get

Enter the number of drinks, your weight in kilograms, your hours of sleep and the glasses of water you had in the evening. The more accurate your inputs, the better the estimate.

The score reflects how intense the symptoms may feel, the duration roughly tells you when you should feel better, and the water recommendation helps you rehydrate.

Why a hangover feels bad

A hangover is caused by dehydration, lack of sleep and the by-products of alcohol metabolism that strain the body. That is why water, rest and food are the most effective remedies.

Salty foods restore electrolytes and pain relief can ease a headache — but avoid paracetamol, as it puts extra load on the liver.

Good to know

This estimate is for entertainment only and is not medical advice. Everyone reacts to alcohol differently, so treat the result as a rough, indicative guide.
