The roast cooking time calculator estimates how long meat or poultry needs in the oven based on weight and the doneness you want. It helps you time the roast to be ready right at dinner.

How the calculator works and what it’s for

How cooking time is calculated

The calculator multiplies the weight by the base time per kilo for the chosen meat and doneness. The result is an approximate roasting time in both minutes and hours.

For example, a two-kilo roast with a base time of 40 min/kg gives about 80 minutes in total, just over an hour.

What you enter and what you get

Enter the meat weight in kilos, choose the meat type and doneness, and set the base time per kilo. You get the cooking time in minutes and conveniently in hours too.

The hours view makes it easier to plan longer roasts when you want to know when to put the meat in the oven.

Who it is for

It suits festive meals, holiday ham, a Sunday roast or roast chicken when you want the food served at just the right moment.

It is also useful when you cook a new cut and don't remember the usual roasting time.

Important: confirm the core temperature

The time is only a rough estimate, since ovens, the shape of the cut and the starting temperature all affect the result. A meat thermometer is the surest check.

Target core temperatures include chicken at 75 °C and pork at 71 °C. Let the roast rest a few minutes before carving.
