How the calculator works and what it’s for▾
How net worth is calculated
The math is simple: add up everything you own, then subtract your total liabilities. The remainder is your net worth.
For example, if your home, investments and other assets total €300,000 and you owe €180,000, your net worth is €120,000. The figure can also be negative if you owe more than you own.
What you enter and what you get
You enter four amounts: the value of property and real estate, investments and cash, other assets such as a car, and your total liabilities.
The result shows total assets, total liabilities and the difference between them as your net worth. This lets you see both the size of your wealth and how leveraged you are.
Who it is for
Tracking net worth helps you see whether you are heading in the right direction: growing assets and shrinking debt. It is useful for savers, investors and anyone paying down a loan.
A single number captures your financial situation in a way that a bank balance alone never can.
Tips for interpreting the result
Value your assets realistically at market value, not purchase price. Property and investment values shift, so refresh your figures from time to time.
Ideally review the number once a year at the same time. The trend matters more than any single reading: a steadily rising net worth signals healthy finances.
