Semester GPA vs. cumulative GPA
Your semester GPA covers one term; your cumulative GPA is the credit-weighted average of everything on your transcript. Employers and grad schools look at the cumulative number, but scholarships and academic standing are often checked per semester. Because the cumulative average is weighted by all past credits, it responds slowly — planning a target GPA means working backward: this calculator shows exactly what this semester’s grades do to the total before the semester is over.
For a single class, work out your standing with the grade calculator and what you need on the final with the final grade calculator. For a plain single-term GPA with Honors/AP weighting (high school style), use the GPA calculator.
