How the calculator works and what it’s for▾
How the conversion is calculated
The conversion uses the standard Finnish volume measures: 1 dl = 100 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml and 1 tsp = 5 ml. One US cup equals 240 millilitres.
The calculator first converts your amount into millilitres and then shows the equivalent amounts in decilitres, tablespoons and teaspoons.
What you enter and what you get
You enter an amount and choose the unit it's given in. For example, one cup can be converted straight into decilitres or spoons.
The result shows the same amount in four units: millilitres, decilitres, tablespoons and teaspoons, so you can find a measuring tool that suits your recipe.
Who and when
The converter suits home cooks, bakers and anyone trying foreign recipes. Cups, tablespoons and teaspoons turn into familiar measures in seconds.
It is also handy when you don't have a measuring cup to hand and want to measure with spoons alone.
Good to know
The converter deals with volume, not weight, so 1 dl of flour and 1 dl of liquid weigh different amounts. Weigh out a recipe's gram amounts separately.
Cup measures can differ slightly between countries. This calculator uses the US 240-millilitre cup.
