Unit Price Calculator
Calculate a product's unit price (€/kg, €/L or €/pc) and compare package sizes.
7.00 €/kg or €/L
Unit price (per kg/L)
| Price per 1000 (kg/L) | 7.00 €/kg/L |
| Price per 100 | 0.70 € |
| Price per unit | 0.0070 € |
The unit price calculator shows which product is genuinely the cheapest when you compare packages of different sizes. Enter the package price and its content, and you get the comparison price as €/kg, €/L or €/pc so you can see whether the larger pack really wins.
How the calculator works and what it’s for▾
How the unit price is calculated
The comparison price comes from dividing the package price by its content and scaling the result to one kilogram, litre or piece. For example, a €2.40 pack containing 400 grams costs €6 per kilogram.
The calculator shows the price per thousand units (per kg or per litre), per hundred units and per single unit, so you can pick whichever scale fits your product best.
What you enter and what you get
You enter two things: the package price in euros and the content. Give the content in grams or millilitres if you want the result as €/kg or €/L. For piece goods, enter the number of pieces.
The result gives three rows: price per kilo or litre, price per hundred units and price per single unit. The "per unit" row tells you the per-piece price, for example for a tray of eggs or a six-pack.
Who benefits from it
The calculator is handy for everyday grocery shopping when the same product sits on the shelf in a discounted size and a standard size. It reveals when a large pack is truly cheaper and when a smaller size wins thanks to an offer.
It is just as useful for renovation supplies, craft materials, cosmetics and anything sold in several sizes.
Tips for comparing
Make sure you compare products in the same unit and don't mix grams with millilitres. Keep in mind too that the lowest unit price isn't always the best buy if a larger pack spoils or goes unused.
The comparison price shown on the shelf edge is the same figure this calculator produces, so you can also use it to double-check the store's labels.
