How the calculator works and what it’s for▾
How the burn is estimated
Walking burn depends largely on body weight: the more you weigh, the more energy each step costs. The calculator uses an estimate of about 0.04 kcal per step at 70 kg and scales it to your weight.
So a lighter person burns a little less and a heavier person a little more for the same number of steps.
What you enter and what you get
Enter the number of steps you walked and your weight in kilograms. You can read your step count from a phone or a fitness band.
The results show total calories burned and the burn per thousand steps, which makes it easy to compare different days.
What to use it for
It suits you when you want to picture the energy cost of daily walking or set step targets. It shows how everyday steps quietly add up.
You can compare results across days and watch how adding activity shows up in the numbers.
Good to know
The result is an estimate. Walking pace, terrain and fitness affect the real burn, so a hill or a brisk pace burns more than the calculator shows.
Treat the figure as a guide rather than a precise measurement.
